Deutsch: Theo Waigel gilt als „Vater des Euro“. Er war in bewegten Zeiten
Finanzminister und hat jahrzehntelang deutsche und europäische Politik gestaltet. 2019 feiert der Vollblutpolitiker seinen 80. Geburtstag und blickt mit einer Autobiographie auf sein Leben zurück. Die deutsche Wiedervereinigung, der Abzug der sowjetischen Truppen, die Einführung des Euros waren nur einige Meilensteine in seinem Leben. Er flog noch mit Franz Josef Strauß auf Termine, Helmut Kohl war sein Freund und im Flüchtlingsstreit stellte er sich vor drei Jahren an die Seite von Angela Merkel. Dass er sich ein Leben lang für ein vereintes Europa einsetzt, rührt vom Verlust seines Bruders Gustl. Der fiel als 18-Jähriger an der Westfront: ein traumatisches Erlebnis für Waigel und seine Familie.
