Description
English:

An upright brown bat fossil on pale tan stone. It is possible to see the bat's toes, tail, and the bone's from the bat's wings.

The fossils of the Green River Formation's ancient Fossil Lake are remarkable for the broad spectrum of species found here. This 14 cm long bat is the most primitive bat known. Claws on each finger of its wings indicate it was probably an agile climber and crawled along and under tree branches searching for insects. Catalog number FOBU13514.
