Summary[edit]
DescriptionThe Rickshaw(PHOTOGRAPH 01).jpg |
English: Kolkata has always been the house of culture, from dakshineswar and victoria memorial and the national library, from the puchkas and jhalmuris and biriyanis, to the trums, and buses and ricksaws. It has been the birth place of warriors and poets alike, of music and art. It has been the root of one of the biggest festivals in India. But that is not the reason kolkata is home. Kolkata is home because the air here is tangy with the spices of street food, it is home because the streets here have led to freedom, it is home because the man pulling the ricksaw is a father yearning to return home to his daughters, it is home because the lanes here smell of sunburnt bricks and old moss, it is home because it is an emotion, because it is joy.
The above photograph captures the perfect essence of kolkata in two shades- archaic and flourishing. |
