Summary[edit]

Description

From familial bliss in rural Roscommon to a more somber occasion in an urban setting - there's something of a change of pace from yesterday's image to today's. Is there enough to confirm the location of this funereal scene?

Ably assisted by other contributors, our esteemed colleague from the Southern Hemisphere, [/photos/beachcomberaustralia/ BeachcomberAustralia] identified the location as Temple Place in London. With the trees to the right being in Victoria Embankment Gardens, and the structure in the background identified as Temple Stairs Arch on Victoria Embankment. Also provided are contemporary descriptions of the silence that followed the cortege of Terence MacSwiney's remains to Euston station. (Perhaps contrasting the signs of a little more hubbub in the New York crowd that greeted his widow some months later)....
