English: The 'Vernon' East Indiaman, 1000 Tons To Captain Aug Consett and the Officers of the Ship... Print entitled 'The Vernon East Indiaman, 1000 Tons To Captain Aug Consett and the Officers of the Ship...'. The ship flies the post-1843 Green Blackwall Line house flag and appears to be running up the Channel. She was built at Blackwall in 1839 by Green's, originally with auxiliary paddles, as were her sister ships 'Earl of Hardwick' and 'Owen Glendower' though the last had them removed before she was completed and the others later, after they proved unsuccessful. Lloyd's spells the master's name as Consitt. The print is signed by the artist and dated in the image. See also PAH9330. There is a bill of sale relating to the ship in NMM MS GRN 14. |
