Braincase (grey), cast of endocranial cavity and otic capsules (blue), brain and cranial nerves (green) of the late embryo of the extant holocephalan Callorhinchus milii, rotating from dorsal to ventral view. Three-dimensional virtual reconstruction made from synchrotron microtomography images. The oral opening of the buccohypophyseal canal is visible on the ventral aspect of the chondrocranium.
