Summary[edit]
DescriptionStreet Scenes -- Broughton Street at Night, Savannah Georgia.jpg |
English: Linen textured color postcard with no border and divided back, postmarked, but date is not readable. The view is looking west down Broughton Street from Abercorn Street. Past the Avon Theater, now a restaurant, is the Marshall House. The tall building on the right in the distance was the Liberty Bank and Trust, also known as the National Bank of Savannah, which was demolished in 1975.
This postcard was produced by the Curt Teich & Company. They utilized a variety of processes but the most common was a halftone lithographic process. They had elaborate numbering systems for their postcards. The numbers also often designated production processes. After 1930, card numbers began with a number corresponding to the last digit of the year it was published in. This was followed by a letter series for the decade. Postmark is not readable, but card's message is dated June 24, 1952. |
