Summary[edit]

Description

I set up the camera by the Chess Queen formation at Coyote Buttes South for this sequence. I used the 50mm lens wide open at f/1.8. I left it there all night. It ran until the battery gave out. The camera was facing toward the east.

There are a few strange features. I wouldn't have guessed that there were so many airline flights overhead. Also, at about six seconds into the video you can see a relatively slow light moving from left center to the top left corner. I think it must be a satellite. Then later a line of stationary spots emerges from the lower center extending up and to the right at about a 45 degree angle. They are really in a straight line; because of this, I think they must be internal reflections in the lens. But because they don't move at all, even though the light sources (stars) are moving, I'm puzzled.

NOTE: After looking at this on flickr, I see that the quality is so low that you can't see most of the line of spots.

NOTE to NOTE: Oh! I just noticed the little "HD" in the bottom right corner. If you click on that, the video is much sharper, though still not quite as sharp as the original. But with HD turned on, you can see (barely) the stationary spots in the last half of the video.
