Summary[edit]

Description
English: Sourton: Lew valley The line of gorse bushes is thought to indicate the putative course of a Roman road from Okehampton and Sourton Down to the Tamar. See also P Weddell and S Reed, Excavations at Sourton Down, Okehampton 1986-1991: Roman road, deserted hamlet and other landscape features, Proceedings of the Devon Archaeological Society 55, 1997, 134-5. Looking south west towards Forda. The old trunk road to Cornwall runs up on the right, keeping above the valley floor. It has also been superseded – by the new A30, which is aligned further north and runs down to the Thrushel valley
