1/4-wave and 3/4-wave in a "Slayer exciter" oscillator

Summary[edit]

Description
English: Using coils from a Tesla coil with low coupling in a "Slayer exciter" blocking oscillator may result in two (or more) modes of oscillation. In this case are observed the normal "1/4-wave" mode, with a maximum at the top, and the "3/4-wave" mode, with a notch at about 2/3 of the coil. The frequency increases to something between 2 and 3 times greater. A top load may avoid the second mode, or just move it up. The driver uses the usual configuration, with a 6 V power supply and a BC337 transistor. By Dr. Antônio Carlos M. de Queiroz. http://www.coe.ufrj.br/~acmq/
