English: LIBI_00019_00423; This item is an original albumen photograph of 16 men and 2 mounted officers on the infantry skirmish line along the crest of "Custer Ridge", facing towards a cloud of smoke. The photograph is 6 7/8 x 9 7/8" mounted on brown card with gilded gold or bronze along all 4 edges. The card photograph was produced at on unknown date by David F. Barry. On the front, a typed caption embossed in gold or bronze ink reads, "Skirmish Line/Custer Battle Field." On the verso, a handwritten notation in pencil reads, "Custer Battle Field, June 25th, 1886." Handwritten description provided by Elizabeth B. Custer.
