Summary[edit]

Description

From an August 11, 1946 feature in the Seattle Times:

"The first Sunday Times appeared in 1902, when the city looked as shown in this photograph. The dredging of the East Waterway, which made Harbor Island, had just begun, Todays Spokane Street would be at the right of center. The old rope-walk was in the long building seen at the left along the water's edge."

In actuality Spokane street would not even be in this picture. It would be a few blocks to the right. The street just right of center behind the small row of single story buildings was Connecticut. It would now be S. Royal Brougham.

The center of the right half of the photo, just past the railroad tracks would be the approximate location of Safeco Field.
