Summary[edit]

Description
English: The Post Office want to franchise out Redruth branch into the back of an existing retailer. If we do nothing we risk loosing adequate post office facilities in the town. We met on Thursday 2nd of February to try and do something about it.

To me it's clear that we must act now to have a say as a community in how this post office is run, other than the typical dot-I's-cross-T's public consultation once the Post Office have decided what they want to do.

The results of the meeting were disappointing and nothing is going to happen if you don't vote at the above URL

16/18 voted to protest and petition post office to remain 0/18 volunteered to organise above action 2/18 voted for a community owned bid to develop the kind of PO Redruth wants

The Facebook invite for this event read as follows

You are invited to a public meeting in the Redruth Town Council chambers (above Kernow Credit Union), to discuss the franchising of the Redruth Post Office.

The Post Office wishes to put a kiosk in an existing retailer's shop in Redruth and close it's current Post Office facilities. We want to make sure the Post Office retains sufficient facilities in Redruth for the local community. If you care about your local post office facilities please come along and join the discussion.

The meeting will be videoed and posted online for people who can't make it on the night. Please submit statements and questions in advance if you can't make the meeting.

There has been a great response to my original letter to the chamber, which can be found on the Chamber of Commerce Facebook page. This response has led me to call this emergency meeting before the deadline on the franchise is reached.

There are a number of options to be discussed and a number of points which have been raised which will be discussed in the meeting.
