“Marengo 1st mo 13th 1825

I meant to send for 1 Dz Bibles by Hyram M the other day and thought I had, until he returned – Please for the futer put the bill up with whatever articles are sent or seal it as the last preceding one was examined, I suspect – if not it fell in honest peoples hands a little like myself – At least it was handled by several, It came to me the next day – and that Sam Laing was the very cause of it, for he never demanded it of H. and If I catch him in another such a caper, I guiss he’ll be sorry – Please give me the price of Writing Paper by the Ream, Beeswax and tallow as they have been offered – Also the first cost and retail price of Walker’s Dictionary and Daybolls Arithmetic – I now send for the remainder of those Bibles and a few other articles – Thine &c in good health and low spirits Dull business as usual
