Friend Hunt
The reason why your abolition petition was not rec’d was my asking leave to present it on a day, when petitions are not in order. I will pursue on the first petition day. It occured to me to mention this fact, that you should not, with your abolition friends take any undue advantage of the circumstances.

(PS) I’m told 500,000! of Mr. Webster’s last speech has been ordered by the Whigs – who pays for this? King Biddle? or the Prince of [Paneis?] and [Distress?]
I am sorry you have urged friend Lane to turn politician. I always supposed you was against the union of Church and State But your opposition to the Independent Treasury project places you among strange bed fellows S B.”
