This is the first issue of Safire, a newsletter published by Black Women for Wages for Housework

Summary[edit]

Description
English: This newsletter was released in 1977 by Black Women for Wages for Housework and includes commentary on Carter's proposed welfare reforms, the ERA, the Icelandic Women's strike and the struggles of welfare recipients lead by black women. The group was co-founded in 1976 by Margaret Prescod and Wilmette Brown following a conference on welfare rights organized by the New York Wages for Housework Committee.
