Português: Por unanimidade, a Sexta Turma do Superior Tribunal de Justiça (STJ) manteve, nesta terça-feira (11), a prisão preventiva de dois policiais rodoviários federais acusados pelos crimes de tortura, abuso de autoridade e homicídio qualificado no episódio conhecido como "câmara de gás improvisada", que resultou na morte por asfixia de Genivaldo de Jesus Santos, em Umbaúba (SE).

Ao negar o pedido de soltura, o colegiado considerou fundamentada a decisão que decretou a custódia preventiva – baseada nas informações de que a vítima teria problemas mentais e não ofereceu resistência à abordagem da PRF, além dos indícios de que os agentes teriam usado a força em desacordo com as normas do Ministério da Justiça, especialmente no tocante à utilização das armas químicas. .
