English: LIBI_00019_272; This item is an card-mounted albumen (boudoir) photograph of General George A. Custer and the Grand Duke Alexis [Grand Duke Alexei Alexandrovich of Russia]. The studio portrait is 4 3/4 x 7 5/8" (5 1/2 x 8 1/2" mounted on a tan mount) and was produced circa 1872 by David F. Barry. On the front, a typed notation in brown ink reads, "D.F. Barry, West Superior, Wis." On the verso, a handwritten notation in blue ink reads, "The Grand Duke Alexis/General G.A. Custer" and is signed by Elizabeth B.
