Summary[edit]
DescriptionPhotograph showing a group of men watching as one man uses a flame thrower to control locusts LCCN2007675858.tif |
English: Locust plague of 1930, flamethrower used to exterminate locusts. After the locusts have been herded into the metal pit, fire is applied gratuitously to the pile using flamethrowers such as the one pictured here in order to exterminate the swarm before it can take flight and wreak havoc on the countryside. The image was apparently taken in or around Palestine in 1930, as described here. See also: Close of the 1930 locust campaign. Bedouins racing and feasting at Beersheba on June 30th, 1930.
