- Kalyani: Here itself, there is a Theyyam. There is a Theyyam near my Husband's house also. Thondachan, Gulikan, Odiveeran, Makkapothi, Makkathinte randu makkalu, Chamundi...likewise there are many Theyyams. I have watched many Theyyam performances.
Wikipedian: Which Theyyam dance is performed in this Temple(Kavu)?
- Kalyani: This Theyyam is called Neeliyarkottam. It is also called Ottathara.
Wikipedian: What is the legend behind this Theyyam?
- Kalyani: It is the same legend that the policeman (temple guard) told you.
Wikipedian: What are the characteristics of this place?
- Kalyani: This place is called Manghattu Parambu. Neeliyarkau is what the Temple(Kavu) is known as. We call it Kottathu Kavu.
Wikipedian: Please tell us something more about the legend behind this Theyyam.
- Kalyani: According to legendary belief, it is said that when someone asked for food the lady of the place would ask them to first take a bath. The Thaali (herbal shampoo) for the bathing was provided by her. When a Namboodhiri (priest) asked for lunch, she asked to take a bath and she offered him Thaali. Namboodhiri told her that anything the Mother gives is "Amruthu" (nectar) for him, and drank the Thaali. Usually (since he drank the herbal shampoo) the lady would have killed him and out of anger and drunk his blood. But as he addressed her as Mother, not only did she do no harm to him, but she also wanted to go back with him. It is believed that she sat in his umbrella and went along with him. It is said that when the umbrella and the trunk it was in were placed down, no one was able to lift it because of the weight. She is supposed to have said that she wanted to stay in a place where the cow and the tiger grazed together. (Symbolically, this means a very peaceful place, as tigers and cows are enemies, and thus if they are grazing together, means that they are friendly). Manghattu parambu was an apt place. So the deity was placed there. People feared to walk that way and so the deity was shifted here.

- Kalyani: Neeliyarkottam is performed in places like Erinijikeel, Matahmangalam, Kodannur, Kannapuram. Performance for the Neeliyar deity is performed only here.

- Kalyani: Many times in a year.
