English: Newsreels in which Dutch subjects of a certain week are presented.
In May 1940 a Rhine barge with Belgian prisoners of war hit a mine on the Hollands Diep near Willemstad, which killed 164 men. This event is commemorated with a requiem mass followed by the unveiling of a monument on a newly layed out cemetery. SHOTS: - ships sail on the Hollands Diep; - ext. harbour of Willemstad; - at the place of the disaster, marked by a bouy with a mourning flag, a large paddle boat anchored; a mass id dedicated on board, attended by many surviving relatives; - a companyof notables enters the cemetery; - vice-admiral Rost van Tonningen lays a wreath on behalf of Queen Juliana; - a wreath is attached to the buoy with the mourning flag; - all shots are alternated by shots of the great number of attendents, consisting of interested persons, notables, surviving relatives and war veterans, many of them decorated.

In mei 1940 liep een rijnaak met Belgische krijgsgevangenen op een mijn bij Willemstad aan het Hollands Diep, waarbij 164 mannen om het leven kwamen. Deze gebeurtenis wordt herdacht met een rouwmis gevolgd door de onthulling van een monument op een nieuw aangelegd erekerkhof. SHOTS: - Schepen varen over het Hollands Diep; - ext. haven Willemstad; - op de plaats van de ramp, aangegeven door een boei met een rouwvlag, is een grote salonraderboot voor anker gegaan; aan boord wordt een mis opgedragen, bijgewoond door vele nabestaanden; - een gezelschap notabelen betreedt het kerkhof; - de Belgische minister van Binnenlandse zaken, Albert de Vleeshauwer, onthult het monument en legt een krans; - vice-admiraal Rost van Tonningen, legt, namens koningin Juliana, een krans; - aan de boei met de rouwvlag wordt een krans gehecht; - alle shots afgewisseld met shots van ruim aanwezig publiek, bestaande uit belangstellenden, notabelen, nabestaanden en, veelal gedecoreerde oud-strijders. |
