Description
English: Part of the Jewish month of Nisan (Aviv/Abib), from the year of Jesus' crucifixion (circa A.D. 30). This calendar is modeled after the Hebrew calendar in use in Jesus' day. There were no official names for the days of the week, except for the 7th day (Shabbat - Sabbath). The 1st Day of Unleavened Bread was also called a Shabbat (Leviticus 23:4-8). The days did NOT start at midnight, but at sunset. Each day was divided into evening and morning. Biblically speaking, "the next day" means the beginning of the next calendar date. "The next morning" means the second half of the SAME calendar date. NOTE that in Jesus day the people often interchanged the words for Passover and the Days of Unleavened Bread, although they are SEPARATE Festivals (Leviticus 23:4-8).
