Description
English: Newsreels in which Dutch subjects of a certain week are presented. – Dutch designers have designed a new machine to spray orchards. The new machine has the advantage that it works with a vaporizing head through which air is blown. This way it needs less water so it can be used in areas where there is less water available. SHOTS: - In an orchard a grower shows apple trees with leaves affected by apple scab (caused by Venturia inaequalis); - demonstration of old spraying methods: the hand sprayer carried on the back; the barrel sprayer and the motorized sprayer (the sprayers aren't wearing any protective clothing or masks); - demonstration of new machine by two men in protective clothing and with masks: one drives the tractor pulling the installation, the other one sits behind the spraying head and aims this at the trees in the orchard.
Nederlands: Bioscoopjournaals waarin Nederlandse onderwerpen van een bepaalde week worden gepresenteerd. – Nederlandse ontwerpers hebben een nieuwe machine ontworpen voor het bespuiten van boomgaarden. De nieuwe machine heeft als centraal voordeel dat hij met een verstuiverkop werkt waar doorheen lucht geblazen wordt. Daardoor heeft hij veel minder water nodig zodat ook in water-arme streken gewerkt kan worden. SHOTS: - In een boomgaard toont een kweker door appelschurft aangetaste bladeren van appelbomen; - demonstratie van oude bespuitingsmethodes: de op de rug gedragen handspuit; de vatspuit en de motorspuit (de spuiters dragen geen beschermende kleding of maskers); - demonstratie nieuwe machine door twee man in beschermende kleding en met maskers: een bestuurt de tractor die de installatie voorttrekt, de ander zit achter de verstuiverkop en richt deze op de bomen in de boomgaard.
