Title
Motor car and horse drawn cart near Adelaide c1913
Description

This image shows a motor vehicle, horse drawn cart and buildings. The background appears to be the Adelaide Hills, which suggests that the road is not a road at Port Adelaide as indicated in the original title. It may be what is now known as Regency Road, near Islington, with the trees on the left being part of the sewerage farm. (Mullett, A J, "Map of Adelaide, South Australia, 1913", printed June 1915, viewed 18 September 1919, <mapco.net/adel1913/adelaide12.htm>

The registration of the motor vehicle is 3135. South Australian motor vehicle registration records (https://www.familytreeoz.com/search-ancestry-records.html?filter=3135&id=17&view=genlist&searchphrase=all#topres) show that this was an Austin 15 horse power car belonging to Mr W H Oliver, of King William Street, first registered to him in 1913. William Henry Oliver of 299 King William Street, Adelaide was a motor vehicle proprietor who hired out vehicles
