Tweede deel van 3-delige film over moderne architectuur in Nederland. In dit deel de revolutionaire veranderingen in de bouwkunst van de jaren 20, oa. het Schroderhuis van Rietveld in Utrecht en het stadhuis van Dudok in Hilversum. Het eerste flatbouw in Nederland maar ook tuindorpen. Opkomst van de Delftse School. Krotopruiming en stadsvernieuwing. De uitdaging voor architecten in de wederopbouw van het hart van Rotterdam na de oorlog. Eigentijdse plattelandsbebouwing in de nieuwe Noord-Oostpolder. Tc. begint 07'25" 07.30 Voorbeelden van veranderde schilderkunst : expressionisme, kubisme, abstract en geometrische vormen. Het tijdschrift 'De Stijl', waarin de nieuwe stijlen worden gepropageerd 08.03 Het beroemde Schroeder- of Rietveldhuis, in 1924 gebouwd door de gelijknamige architect. Granpre Moliere, promotor van deze door eenvoud opvallende stijl, met vrouw en kind in de tuin van zijn woning 12.20 Tuindorp in Rotterdam, gebouwd door deze architect 12.34 Overvliegende eskaders bommenwerpers, beelden van vallende bommen, Stuka's in volle vlucht (noot 1). Het beeld van Zadkine, brandend en verwoest Rotterdam, o.a. de St Laurenskerk 13.09 Panorama van de uitgestrekte vlakte in het hart van de stad, waar de eerste bouwactiviteiten plaats vinden. Van betonelementen opgetrokken sobere, 3-verdiepingen hoge woonblokken, overgaand in beelden van meer 'rijkere' complexen. Bejaardencomplex in moderne bouwstijl, torenflat met galerijen 14.06 Panorama van het platteland.
