English: Animation of composite NOAA weather radar of the southeastern quarter of the United States illustrating the May 2009 series of derechos. These radar images are modified from the source in that low-intensity echos have been removed in order to eliminate most of the noise from ground clutter. The remaining intermittent pulsating disks in fixed locations are the result of ground clutter or other artifacts of propagation and do not indicate precipitation; see the weather radar article for details. |
