12mo. 70 pp; 36 pp. Later wrappers over contemporary cartonnato. “Ce livre arpartiene a Louise Yves ????”. First edition. A charming pocket-format guide to this aspect of convent culture. Young girls educated by, in this case the Congregation de Notre-Dame in Strasbourg, were known as Demoiselles Pensionnaires. Eventually they would be released 'dans le monde', as the environment outside the convent was called. The present work thus attempts to offer a secular education for a religious audience, giving instruction in everything from language to gamesmanship
