Martin Kershaw’s Maya Banjo at the American Banjo Museum

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: On display at the American Banjo Museum in 2019-2020 was a five-string Maya banjo, formerly owned and played by Martin Kershaw. The banjo had appeared on as many as 7000 recordings with stars. Kershaw later played his banjo as a member of the Muppet Show studio band, and it was he who provided the music that the audience heard Kermit the Frog play. Prior to working on the Muppet Show, Kershaw had played for the British Royal Family, playing in variety shows for them. His Maya banjo was also signed by many famous musicians, including Julie Andrews, Gene Kelly, Roy Rogers, Johnny Cash, Elton John, Diana Ross and Peter Sellers.[29]
