Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The plan was to shoot the eclipse in the Vermilion Cliffs/Marble Canyon area, so I took a lot of sunset, moonrise and sunrise pictures in that wonderful area. But the forecast for the eclipse night was not good, so we moved south to the Sunset Crater N.M., just north of Flagstaff. That's where the shots of the eclipsed moon and the sky at that time were taken.

I used three Sony a7iii cameras with the following lenses: (1) Sony 35mm, (2) Sony 14mm and (3) TPO telescope 180mm FL. Dan used a Sony a6500 with a Tamron 70-180mm zoom lens. This was a deep partial eclipse, with 97% of the moon in the earth's shadow. As the eclipse was approaching the maximum, the stars were very bright to the human eye as if there was no moon. Still, the 3% illuminated sliver was quite bright making it difficult for the camera to capture both moon and stars with the same exposure.
