Français : Jean Arnould ou Jean Regnaud (sculpteur, mort à Brest en 1697) et Pierre Le Nègre (fondeur, connu en 1682-99), d'après un dessin de Pierre Mignard : "La Pyramide des Corses élevée à Rome puis abattue".
Médaillon en bronze commandé en 1686 par le duc de La Feuillade pour l'un des pylônes d'éclairage (démolis en 1718) de la place des Victoires. Don du roi Georges V au Louvre, 1914. Sujet : L’ambassadeur de France, Créqui, ayant été offensé par les gardes corses du pape (août 1662), Louis XIV obtint des excuses ainsi que la construction d'une pyramide expiatoire (1664). Il la fit détruire quatre ans plus tard (1668). Pourtant à voir Affaire de la garde corse:"La pyramide est détruite quatre ans après son édification sur ordre du pape Clément IX. Ainsi, du souvenir de cette histoire ne subsiste plus que la tapisserie L'Audience du légat 2, un tableau dans la Galerie des Glaces et une plaque de bronze au Musée du Louvre." |
