Français : (traduction approximative du texte suédois ci-dessous. Le "Jean-François Paris" inconnu est fortement douteux, c'est plus vraisemblablement le prénom "Jean-François" [Xxx] "de Paris". A vérifier.) Tasse de forme litron, décor à fond or mat et 6 médaillons hexagonaux dont trois médaillons à décor d'oiseau en or sur fond rouge et trois médaillon à décor de paysage noir sur fond bleu. Musée Hallwyl, Stockholm. On connaît très peu la vie de Jean-François Paris. Il est apprenti chez Victor Bertin (1775-1842), professeur du célèbre artiste Camille Corot (1796-1875). Il participe aux salons de Paris en 1824, 1827 et 1831 avec des portraits peints sur porcelaine. Il est un peintre indépendant, travaillant pour plusieurs manufactures dont la manufacture de Nast. Ainsi pour les deux grands vases de Nast (hauteur 70 cm) que Louis XVIII achète en 1823 pour 5.000 francs à l'exposition des produits de l'industrie française et qui avait été décoré avec deux peintures de paysage : Vue d'Italie et Vue du lac Trasimène. Ils sont signés J. Paris. Prix : 12 couronnes. Voir vente aux enchères 104, n° 329 avec le projet de loi 11‑12 décembre 1896 où WvH a pris des notes.
Svenska: Cylinderformig kopp (litron) med dekor mot botten i matt guld på sexsidiga bildfält, vartannat i rött, vartannat i blått med en fågel i guld och med landskapsmålning i svart. Denne neapolitanske dekorationsmålares skicklighet visar sig i den utsökta utsmyckningen av åttahörningar mot en omväxlande pompejiröd och blå fondfärg. Fåglar i matt guld och klart glänsande så kallat "brunerat guld" pryder de röda fondfärgerna, medan vackra sepiamålade landskap bryter av mot de blå fondfärgerna. Vi vet mycket lite om Jean-François Paris liv förutom att han var lärling hos Victor Bertin (1775-1842), lärare till den berömde konstnären Camille Corot (1796-1875). Emellertid vet vi att Paris deltog i Parissalongerna åren 1824, 1827 och 1831 med porträtt målade på porslin och att han i egenskap av fristående dekorationsmålare, men även på beställning från Nast, gjorde märkliga polykroma dekorer. Ett bevis på detta var Nasts båda stora vaser med en höjd på 70 centimeter som Ludvig XVIII inköpte år 1823 för 5.000 franc vid industriproduktutställningen och som hade dekorerats med två landskapsmålningar: Vue d'Italie och Vue du lac Trasimène. De är signerade J. Paris. Pris: 12 Kr. Se auktionskat. 104 nr. 329 med räkning 11-12 dec 1896 där WvH gjort anteckningar.
