Description
English:
Saint Stephen of Hungary church. A parish church of the the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Esztergom-Budapest. Built in between 1733 and 1744. It had wooden tower, after burned down current tower built in 1824. Above the entry: architectural date: 1743 - 'New' tower bell made in 1844. Interior mostly end of the 18th century. Main altarpiece: 1790. Pulpit: 1763 works. Polish language plaques (1940 and 2018) on north facade. Inscription: ~'May the Queen of the Polish Crown pray for them//As a sign of friendship and gratitude/Polish officers built this monument in May 1940.' AND ~'In memory of the long-lived friendship with Polish Hungarians,/on the 170th anniversary of the 1848 revolution, in which thousands of Poles fought side by side with the Hungarians under the leadership of József Bem/and in commemoration of 100 years of Polish national independence,//Polish and Hungarian hussars, - brothers in battle' - Hősök Square, Kossuth Lajos Road (Road 11), Dömös, Komárom-Esztergom County, Hungary.
