Description
English:
Tower of Heroes or Heroes' Gate. Replaced the 14th century Lower Gate Tower. Built in 1932. Historicist facade. Four floor building. Part of thre city nuseum. An observation loggia (or panorama corridor) can be found on its top. Local grade listed, There is "The Siege of Kőszeg" stone relief by Mr Sándor Mayer (Meyer) sculptor and Mr. János Kugler painter (1932 works), a World War I marble plaque with bronze relief, a Calvary scene stone relief all three by Sándor Mayer, plus a World War II marble plaque-bronze relief /Memorial "Memento"/ by Endre András Tornay (1992 works) - Jurisics Square and Városház Street, Kőszeg, Vas County, Hungary.

Hősök tornya (Az épület tervezője: Opaterny Flóris.[1]). Kőszeg 7/2008 (III. 31) önkormányzati rendelete a helyi építészeti értékek védelméről alapján: A kőszegi Belváros 1880-ban lebontott középkori várostornya helyén 1932-ben emelt Hősök tornya a város látképi jelképévé vált. A négyszintes, historizáló homlokzatú épületben a városi múzeum kiállításai vannak (1977 óta), felső szintjén kilátó loggiafolyosóval. A helyén a XIV. században emelt Alsó-kaputorony állt. A régi torony a városvédelmi rendszer illetve a belvárosi forgalom legfontosabb objektuma volt, itt laktak az ún. „tornyosok” (toronyzenészek). Legfelsőbb terméből lehet kilépni a torony külső panorámafolyosójára. Nagyobb ünnepeken ma is megszólal a toronyzene erről az erkélyfolyosóról. Mellette áll az ún. Lábasház[2] Törzsszám? He-082/08. Műemléki azonosító nem ismert. A kapu alatt,-a kapualj falán,-van Kőszeg ostroma és az I. világháborús emléktábla alkotások. a Kálvária-jelenet Fő tér felőli oldalán látható valamennyi felállítás 1932, Mayer Sándor. A kapu alatt van Mementó-emlékmű (Felállítás 1992, Tornay Endre András) - Vas megye, Kőszeg, Jurisics tér kb. 6, hrsz.: 1867
