English: Islam in India' traces the origins of Islam in India, its significance in shaping Indian culture, and its peaceful coexistence and unification with other religions in the Indian subcontinent. During the Mughal times, India was unified as a whole and displayed splendid architectural and cultural heritage. It also saw the collaboration of Islamic and Hindu styles in perfect harmony. But it was the Sufis, and not the Muslim rulers, who carried Islam and its principles of belief in one God and equality of man. Many Sufi Saints through the following few centuries promoted peace and harmony among various religions and influenced millions of followers, helping to form the basis of India's unique composite culture |
