Summary
[edit]DescriptionI Am CDC - John Jones.webm |
English: I have worked at CDC for 20 years. I work in Fort Collins, Colorado at the Division of Vector-Borne Diseases. I am the lead IT specialist for the division. I develop custom software for the researchers. I use IT differently than people expect. My software gives researchers a bigger picture faster and that helps keep Americans healthy, which is a goal of CDC.
Back in 1999, when the West Nile virus was emerging in the United States, there was a need to develop a near real-time tracking system. I developed the software that allows arboviruses to be tracked in near real-time and that system is now known as Arbonet. Arbonet was designed to track all arboviruses and it was most recently used in the Zika outbreak. I love my job. When I get up in the morning, I don't know what I'm gonna be doing, but I know it'll be something no one else has ever done before. I'm John Jones and I am CDC.
