English: Yo trabajo como especialista en capacitación en el Equipo de Aprendizaje
Aplicado y Desarrollado, coordinando capacitaciones para mejorar la preparación y respuesta ante emergencias de salud pública. También soy teniente comandante del Cuerpo Comisionado del Servicio de Salud Pública. Como teniente comandante pertenezco a una Fuerza de Despliegue Rápido y a menudo soy enviada a zonas de desastre ya sean naturales o causados por el hombre. Me encanta mi trabajo porque es muy versátil por lo que para mí no existe un día promedio, lo cual es una bendición y a veces también un reto. El año pasado fui enviada con un equipo de funcionarios del CDC a Ciudad de México para capacitar primeros respondedores a emergencias en las mejores prácticas de atención de salud mental, primeros auxilios psicológicos y autocuidado en casos de desastre. Un momento de mucha satisfacción fue cuando mi equipo supo del impacto que nuestras lecciones tuvieron después de los fuertes terremotos que sacudieron ese país. Recibimos una carta del Ministerio de Salud diciéndonos que más de 1,500 trabajadores de respuesta a emergencias locales habían sido capacitados en un solo día por los capacitadores que dos colegas y yo habíamos preparado a comienzos del año. No llegué a la salud pública de manera directa. Estudié para ser psicóloga clínica y como tal trabajé en hospitales, clínicas y consultorios privados por más de 23 años. Comencé a interesarme por la salud pública cuando me di cuenta de que mi trabajo llegaría a impactar a un gran número de personas. Ayudar a las personas y comunidades a vivir bien y estar sanas es lo que me encanta hacer. Soy Gabriela Ramírez-Leon y yo soy CDC.
