[edit]DescriptionI Am CDC – Catherine Jamal.webm |
English: Hi! I'm a Digital Media Lead here at CDC. I grew up in Atlanta and, like most locals, was in awe of this exciting, larger-than-life place that I drove by nearly every day. I joined CDC 16 years ago, after graduating with degrees in computer science and psychology. One of my first jobs was helping CDC move into the digital age. It has been awesome! Over the years, I've helped create web sites, social media, and apps for smartphones on topics that include everything from cancer to malaria, salmonella to radiation. I love putting scientific content and data in the world's hands so we can be healthy, safe, and secure, something CDC wants for all of us. One of my top five CDC moments was a trip to China where we led an interactive workshop for digital leaders from every single province. We discussed how to use social media and mobile apps as resources before, during, and after an emergency. It helped them understand how to prepare for emergencies, like hurricanes and earthquakes, and followed the principle that The right message, at the right time, from the right person, can save lives. I'm Catherine Jamal and I am CDC!
