English: The first Hotel in the small village of Tadoussac was built in 1864 by some citizens from Montreal and from Quebec City and featured a broad facade of twelve windows with a clock tower. In 1879, the building was sold for $12,000. In 1888, the hotel underwent its first complete renovation. But it the autumn of 1941, the aging structure was torn down.
The following year, 1942, the now-called "Hotel Tadoussac" was rebuilt by William Hugh Coverdale, president of the Canada Steamship Lines. The film "The Hotel New Hampshire", based on the 1981 John Irving's novel of the same name, was shot with Jodie Foster and Beau Bridges at the Hotel Tadoussac and it was released in 1984. |
