Summary
[edit]DescriptionGemini North and Solar Panels (gemini-north-solar-panels).tiff |
English: Gemini North, the northern half of the International Gemini Observatory, operated by NSF’s NOIRLab, sits at over 4000 meters (nearly 14,000 feet) above sea level, perched near the summit of Maunakea, in Hawai‘i. Being purposefully removed from civilization, maintaining a reliable source of power can be a challenge. That is why Gemini North boosts its capability by using a renewable energy source: solar power. In 2015 photovoltaic solar panels were installed on the roof of the telescope building. |
