Plaque to the 1956 Hungarian Revolution (2006) on the facade of Batthyány Lajos High School (former names: Piarista High School, Irányi Dániel High School, Landler Jenő High School, Batthyány Lajos High School and Medical Secondary School). In 2023 include a new(er) wing/corner building at Rozgonyi Street and Sugár Road corner, and a older, connecting part along Sugár Road. The older part was formerly Honvéd (Patriot) Barrack, built to two Battalion of the 20th Infantry Regiment based on plans of local architect Antal Hencz. The street part of the building complex was designed by architect Ferenc Say. The courtyard wings were built between 1887 and 1892 by Lajos Sallér. The 20th Infantry Regiment moved from here to Dózsa György Road when the new, larger barracks,-Dózsa Barrack/Thury Barrack,-were completed there. The barrrack remodelled to school in 1904 acording plans of Lajos Sallér. From 1904 the building became the home of the Piarist Gymnasium, the regional intellectual centre founded in 1765. Here are two plaques about the building: Honvéd Barracks is a building complex of local importance. It was completed by 1886 by local architect Antal Hencz for Nagykanizsa's home regiment, the 20th Honvéd Infantry Regiment founded at that time. From 1904 it was used by the Piarist Gymnasium, the regional intellectual centre founded in 1765, the metalworking vocational school from 1923 and the Notre Dame Girls' High School from 1933. Batthyány Lajos High School – previously with other names – has been operating here since 1948//The memorial plaque was erected in 2004 by the Batthyány Lajos High School and Medical Vocational School" AND on the OTHER: "Sugár Road 9. From 1933 until nationalization in 1948, the building housed the general school, lyceum, gymnasium, dormitory, convent and chapel of the Notre Dame Order of Women Canons and Teachers. Its predecessor, the Nagykanizsa Association Girls' Lyceum started its operation in 1931 in a ground-floor building next door on the site of the Piarist Chapel. The institution bore the name Notre Dame Girls' High School from 1934, then it was designated Notre Dame Girls' High SchoolThe memorial plaque was erected in 2015 by the Foundation for Batthyány High School" - The former barrack part is under local grade listed and three artworks at the school also local grade listed. Ez és az üresen álló 6., 7., 8. henger az előttünk álló, remélhetően sok évszázados jövőt jelképezi; - kívül a bejárata melletti márvány táblán van Batthyány Lajos domborműve (Felállítás 2015., Stamler Lajos, bronz, kerek portré) [1], belül az előtérben van Batthyány Lajos mellszobra (Felállítás 1990., Rétfalvi Sándor, bronz??)[2]; az előcsarnokban van Minerva-szobor (Felállítás 2015, Csávás Csaba (fafaragó), a gimnázium fennállásának 250. évfordulójára készült); az aulában van elhelyezve a Függesztett térkonstrukció (Felállítás 1985, Bodóczky István (festőművész), sárkányszerűség, japán papírból, bambuszból készített lucidus, "szárnyaló" konstrukció), a gimnázium iskolamúzeumában van Kugler Sándorné mellszobra (1930-as években Kugler Sándorné egykori évfolyamtársa készítette, felállítás 2017; Kugler Sándorné (leánykori neve: Kovács Györgyi) a 30 évig at iskola tanára 2016-ban, 108 éves korában hunyt el). SUGÁR utca felőli épületrészen van: Tüskés Tibor domborműves emléktáblája (Felállítás 2022., Farkas Ferenc, költészet napja alkalmából, Tüskés Tibor irodalomtörténész, Kanizsa díszpolgára /?, Szántód-2009, Pécs?/), az oromfalon van Magyar címer (1892 stukkó, Itt egykoron laktanya volt és a címer alatti évszám az ezred alapítási évére utal. Tarnóczky Attila tanulmányában így ír erről: "1886-ra készült el Hencz Antal helyi építész kivitelezésében Nagykanizsa háziezredének, az akkor alapított 20. honvéd gyalogezrednek. Az épületegyüttes utcai részét Say Ferenc építész tervezte. Az udvari szárnyakat 1887 és 1892 között Sallér Lajos építette. A 20. gyalogezred innen a Dózsa György útra költözött, amikor ott elkészült az új, nagyobb laktanya. 1904-től az épület az 1765-ben alapított régiós szellemi központ, a piarista gimnázium otthona lett."), -az udvaron található kopjafa /egyébb név: 1972-76/B osztály kopjafája/ (A kopjafa tetején egy érdekes formájú emberi fej lett megformálva); - szintén az udvaron található Zemplén Győző mellszobra (mészkő, Felállítás 1974., Szabolcs Péter) [3]. - HELYI VÉDELEM ALATT ÁLLÓ SZOBROK, EMLÉKMŰVEK jegyzékében: "SZ-69, Sugár u. 9.
