Description
The male head depicted in three-quarter profile with beard, prominent nose, strongly protruding eyebrows and facial wrinkles has individual features. The portrait was identified with Niklaus von Flüe, who had made a decisive contribution to Fribourg's admission to the Confederation. The laurel wreath around the portrait makes it clear that it is to be understood as a homage to Niklaus von Flüe. He was a federal identification figure for the people of Fribourg.
