Description
Português: Da espécie Eugenia uniflora e nativa da Mata Atlântica, a pitangueira teve suas folhas usadas por pesquisadores da Universidade Positivo, no Paraná.

Os ratos usados são animais que não gostam de lugares abertos. Nos testes em labirintos, seu primeiro intuito é se esconder em lugares fechados. Eles foram tratados com estreptozotocina (STZ) por administração intracerebroventricular (ICV), que induz os efeitos da Doença de Alzheimer. Foram realizadas quatro sessões nos labirintos. A memória episódica, ativada em eventos repetidos, era melhor preservada nos ratos tratados com o extrato da pitangueira, fazendo com que eles “decorassem” os melhores caminhos para se esconderem.
