Summary[edit]

Description
English: Maltese cross model as it is placed in the film projector. «The Maltese cross, a small component with at least four slots and a disc fitted with a metal pin, causes the film's movement to be continuously interrupted as it is pulled along. Each frame remains stationary for a short time in the frame window and can be perceived by the eye before being replaced by the next. First used by Oskar Messter in 1886, the Maltese cross is still at the core of modern projectors today.» Displayed at the Museum of Film and Television Berlin, Deutsche Kinemathek.
