Description
Magyar: Az ispán (latinul: comes) legismertebb jelentésében a vármegye király által kinevezett első emberét jelentette a középkorban, az újkorban (kb. 1526 után) a tisztség neve főispán (latinul: comes supremus) lett. A Magyar Királyságban a középkortól és a Magyar Köztársaság idején a kommunista rendszer megjelenéséig (1950-es törvényig) leggyakrabban az egy-egy megye, vagy szabad királyi város (törvényhatósági jogú város) élén álló, király, vagy kormány által kinevezett legfőbb méltóság, illetve hivatal volt. Important: "the author is unknown" is NOT the same as "I don't know who the author is". You have to provide a reason why you think no one else can know it; otherwise the image shall be deleted.

This work is in the public domain in the United States because it meets three requirements:

  1. it was first published outside the United States (and not published in the U.S. within 30 days),
  2. it was first published before 1 March 1989 without copyright notice or before 1964 without copyright renewal or before the source country established copyright relations with the United States,
  3. it was in the public domain in its home country (Hungary) on the URAA date (1 January 1996).
The official position taken by the Wikimedia Foundation is that "faithful reproductions of two-dimensional public domain works of art are public domain".
