Summary[edit]

Description
English: You will need:

1 tsp dishwashing liquid 1/4 cup hydrogen peroxide (3%) A few drops of food colouring 1/4 cup warm water 1 tablespoon active dry yeast A tray to contain the mess A flask or small bottle

Mix the yeast and warm water together for 30 seconds.

In the flask or bottle, combine the dishwashing liquid, food colouring and hydrogen peroxide.

Put your flask or bottle in a tray to contain the mess, then add the yeasty mixture.

Watch as the foam expands and overflows!

How does it work?

The yeast removes the oxygen from the hydrogen peroxide, which gets trapped in the dishwashing liquid to create a foamy, bubbly substance.

You may notice the bottle getting warm - the reaction is releasing heat as well as oxygen. It's called an exothermic reaction!
