| Description |
English: The 18th Street neighborhood of Chicago is a true mix of Latin culture. Mostly Mexican also, Porto Rican, Cuban, and all other Latin American immigrants and citizen live there.
You can find the best burrito, and all those sweets which is hard to resist. Yearly music and art festivals are very colorful. People are warm and unemployment is high. Some of them local Latin residents, many of them illegal immigrants!! some escaping poverty, and some escaping the dictatorships established by big Uncle Sam. They have to be careful to avoid the Immigration Office of Chicago and work in unstable, dirty jobs that no one liked to work. Few of them were able to gain money to buy their homes but now, the gentrification force forcing them out from their old neighborhoods. |
