Summary[edit]

Description
English: In assessing potential for recovery of upper limb function following stroke, it has become customary to focus on the corticospinal tract. Damage to other regions of the structural (white matter) brain connectome generates deficits that span multiple domains (e.g., motor; language; attention; verbal/spatial memory) and determines not only initial functional status, but also response to movement therapies. Disconnectome modelling – referring a lesion delineated using a clinical scan to a (dis)connectivity atlas derived from the brains of other stroke survivors, capitalises upon this knowledge to provide a basis for personalised prognosis and precision rehabilitation. SLF – superior longitudinal fasciculus; ILF – inferior longitudinal fasciculus.
