Summary[edit]

Description
English: What are you looking at? the shape or the material? Monuments sometimes reveal more than the subject they represent, because the stone often contains traces of its geological past. In this case, the texture of the statue of a woman in mourning shows its material, a shelly limestone (a sedimentary rock containing fossil shells). The statue is part of the monument dedicated to the victims of the Franco-Prussian War of 1870, sculpted by Eustache Bernard and located in the Saint-Roch Cemetery in Grenoble, Isère, AuRA, France.
