Summary

[edit]
Description
English: early alchemical symbol for melted (calcinated or refined) metal, from File:Marcianus gr. 299 fol 6.jpg. Derived from planetary symbol + kappa for kekaumenos. This dates from a time when ☿ and the planet Mercury were associated with tin rather than with quicksilver.
