This category is an image set. It should contain only images that have the same style, and should have a parent category that is purely topical.

The files gathered in this category are intended to form a visually matching set. They center around planetary symbols, and include various astrological, astronomical, alchemical and gender symbols that derive from the symbols for the planets or each other, or form sets with such symbols. They are presented below so that if it is desirable to adjust them, they can all be adjusted the same way (preferably by a bot) so as to remain harmonious as a set.

The original designs are by Denis Moskowitz, and released for public use. Moskowitz invented the symbols for the trans-Plutonian dwarf planets that are now in Unicode, and for other objects as well, such as meteor showers and larger moons. He stylized some existing symbols, such as the planets and signs of the zodiac, to match. Symbols here that are not in Moskowitz's original set are composed of recycled elements from his designs. (For example, the symbols for the lunar nodes were created from the large circle of Mars, combined with the small circle in the Uranus, Pluto and Sedna glyphs.) All glyphs are set in a 16-by-16 pixel [12-by-12 point] canvas with a 1.333-pixel [1-point] border (though Commons most often shows the size as 15 by 15; there is no actual difference in size between files Commons recognizes as being 15x15 and as being 16x16).

The line (stroke) width is 0.8 px [0.6 pt]. Symbols may be made heavier or lighter by adjusting the stroke width. The two exceptions are dots, as in the Sun and Uranus symbols, and the star in many of the asteroid symbols: these are filled shapes with zero stroke width. The stars are all 'object to path' conversions of the asterisk from the Andika font (free from SIL), set to 9-point bold and then converted to a filled path so that upon display it won't be substituted with an asterisk from a different font.

There are variants with caps at the ends of the strokes and rounded corners, and without caps and with sharp or beveled corners.

Bold and heavy versions (1.333-px [1 pt] and 2-px line weight) are available for some symbols (sub-categories below).
